wisdom teeth

My daughter had her 4 wisdome teeth extracted today. ouch! She was sedate through an iv and it went very well. Dr. said she had extremely low bleeding which he was happy to see. I’ve got her tucked in bed with her vicadin and cold compress to alleviate the swelling. I fed her a chocolate milkshake(only cold smooth foods that require no chewing and easy swallowing as her throat was numb) to coat her stomach for the vicadin and it reminded me of when she was small. She is nearly 18 and a lovely young woman….it is such a pleasure to care for her. Her heart is kind but strong and she is such a champion for others, I just adore her.
She has made it easy to live my motto which is “celebrate children”!

  1. Glad to hear the extraction went well. Just fyi, she may feel lingering pain there for a couple of years to come. I had all 4 of mine surgically extracted (all 4 were severely impacted) at the same age, and for a couple of years after I’d have phantom pains where the teeth were. It’s annoying, but it’s not nearly as bad as if the teeth were still there, or the immediate pain following surgery. Just kind of a naggy-ness, and the Dr. speculated (to me) that it could be also that the pressure from the wisdom teeth was gone, allowing the other teeth to move back to where they belong, which could cause some naggy pain, as well.

Anyway, hope she’s enjoying her milkshakes!!!!! ;)
